Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Institution's/Facility's CEO/CMH/CMO or their designated representative, the Recreation Therapist's responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth.
These therapeutic interventions aim to foster social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate use of leisure time, and prepare Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.
Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and collaborate with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel to coordinate services.
Assess recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth, with a focus on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
